According to Lyubov Zhirnova, Deputy Head of the Epidemiological Supervision Department of the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for the Ivanovo Region, currently there are four cases of measles in the region, of which one is laboratory confirmed. She noted that the spread of measles is associated with the importation of the disease from other regions – Moscow and Vladimir regions.
In connection with the current epidemiological situation, the deputy head of the regional government, Irina Ermish, instructed the health department of the Ivanovo region to strengthen measures to eradicate measles in the region.
Among the priority measures are the vaccination of all persons who come in contact with the diseased, as well as employees of medical organizations and social institutions at high risk of infection. In addition, it was noted the need to introduce compulsory vaccination of persons who arrived in the region to work from neighboring countries.
The measles immunization coverage rate for children in one year in the region is 95.6%, revaccination at six years – 96.7%, vaccination at the age of 18-35 years old – 98.6% of the population.
