Cardi B is undoubtedly this year's style icon.
When she appeared on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards in 2019, at a sight in a designer dress by Mugler in 1995, people's jaws fell. A pink shell design embraced the petite waist of the star, with a black train swung elegantly into a mermaid dress. On her head was a pearl crown that matched a pearl belt and a necklace collar.
She really rocked the red carpet as she posed with her husband offset and showed some important PDAs that were possibly more shocking than the dress itself.
While the vintage dress was much appreciated by fashion collectors, other people were a bit confused by the inspiration behind the red carpet look. Some people on Twitter pointed out that it looked like an oyster, while others considered it an ode to the nemesis Ursula the Little Mermaid.
Others made comparisons with a friend of someone who lives in a pineapple under the sea. This person is also known as Pearl, who was the daughter of Mr. Krabs in Spongebob Squarepants.
Then there was the one person who showed people what that is indeed Inspiration is behind the dress.
Because some people really thought that the Vintage Mugler dress looked like ordinary household goods.
As for Cardi's headgear, some people clearly have a bad case of sweet teeth, because when they saw the pearl crown, their thoughts immediately went to that candy.
And no, she was not inspired by the Sea Witch.
Regardless of people's first impressions, everyone can agree on one thing: Cardi B literally won the Grammy's red carpet this year.
While this award is not really real, there are five other awards that the "I Like It" singer can bring home. She is in the running for Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Rap Album. She was also nominated for best rap performance and best group performance, but unfortunately the win went to other talented musicians.
