The list of 26 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame

The list of candidates to comprise the Class of 2022 of the Pro Football Hall of Fame has been shortened to 26 modern-era semifinalists released by the Canton, Ohio-based “Hall of Immortals.”

Seven candidates in first year of eligibility

According to an article on the matter by the NFL itself, the players who stand out in this announcement are the seven who are in their first year of eligibility, they are: wide receivers Anquan Boldin, Andre Johnson and Steve Smith; wide receiver/kick returner Devin Hester; defensive linemen Robert Mathis and Vince Wilfork; and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware.

This list of 26 will be narrowed to 15 finalists early in the year and they will join the three elected to the senior finalists who are player Cliff Branch, coach Dick Vermeil and contributor Art McNally.

The members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022, as has become customary, will be revealed the week of Super Bowl LVI at the NFL Honors which changes from Saturday to Thursday, Feb. 10.
