The Liverpool star is frustrated by the lack of post-arrival opportunities of £ 43 million

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho is pleased with his debut season – although he would have liked to play a bigger role.

The Brazilian midfielder came out of Monaco in a £ 43.7-million deal this summer, but was held back by coach Jürgen Klopp, who made his first Carabao Cup defeat of Chelsea at the end of September.

That was just a week after a 89th minute debut in the Champions League against Paris St. Germain, but only in December did the 25-year-old start appearing regularly.

His importance to the team, however, has grown rapidly and he has launched five of the last six games, including a game as center-back at Brighton.

Klopp recorded a record time with the new players, with Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain treated similarly, and Fabinho seems to have benefited similarly.

"I'm happy, I've got a lot of improvement, but overall I'm satisfied with my performance," he told Press Association Sport.

"I'm on the pace of the Premier League and that's what I was looking for. I think if it was up to me, I would have played from the beginning.

"Maybe Jürgen could see something that I could not see, so not only the conversations with him helped, but all the staff. I had the patience to wait for my options. "

The rise of Fabinho has helped strengthen Liverpool's title bout and the Brazilian has recently won a championship victory. He won the 2017 Ligue 1 with Monaco.

"I had a good season with Monaco, we scored a lot of goals and we had a lot of fun with football and we have to do it here as well," he added.

"Enjoy the games and enjoy playing on the field and play game by game.

"I know it's really hard to win a league, especially the Premier League, but we've seen players here in Liverpool.

"I do not know if I can help much because we already have experienced players.

"We know we are at the top of the league table, and it's important to be in the league at this point, but we can not just think about the title every time because it can put additional pressure on us."
