The mayor of Saint-Étienne mobilizes his counterparts to eradicate violence in … / France / Saint-Étienne / June 24, 2022 /

The Greens want to repair the broken pots.

Gaël Perdriau, the LR mayor of Saint-Étienne, invited his counterpart mayors and presidents of agglomerations whose club plays in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 to launch a joint initiative, the aim of which is to put an end to violence in the stadiums. Several annoyances of this kind have marred the season in France: clashes between players and supporters during Nice-OM, between Parisian and Lyonnais supporters in the Coupe de France, but also between Angevins and Marseillais, Lensois and Lille… The list is many too long, and the degree of violence reached its climax at the end of the season, when the Saint-Etienne supporters, in anger after the humiliation suffered against Auxerre, invaded Geoffroy-Guichard, causing a lot of damage human and material. Overflows that ASSE will pay from the start of next season.

So, to eradicate this violence, the mayor of Saint-Etienne calls for mobilization. “I took the initiative to propose to the president of the Association of Mayors of France and his counterpart from urban France to work, within the two associations, on the drafting of a white paper of concrete proposals” , presents Gaël Perdriau. And the elected Forézien to detail the way in which he wishes to apply the process: “I have extended this approach to the bodies managing football, whether it is the French Football Federation or the Professional Football League, without forgetting the National Association of Supporters” he said, wanting to place the project under the responsibility of the State to “ensure coordination with all stakeholders” .

Next step: ban the 357,253 travel bans per season.
