The methods and times for the transition to the new digital terrestrial

How to understand which TVs will no longer work

Ansa / CorriereTv

We will have to wait longer than expected to change TV and decoder to watch television programs with the new DVB-T2. The transition from MPEG2 to MPEG4 has been postponed to October 20. From that date nine Rai and six Mediaset thematic channels will be offered in high definition only. To receive them you will need a compatible TV or decoder. To check compatibility, just tune into a high definition channel. By the end of 2021, the decommissioning of the Mpeg2 encoding will be completed and confirmed with a provision. The transition from the DVB-T standard to the DVB-T2 standard for the new digital terrestrial will take place in 2023, no longer on June 30, 2022. To find out if the televisions are compatible, there must be the wording Test HEVC Main10 on two channels: 100 for the Rai and 200 for Mediaset. If the TV or the decoder are not compatible, you can take advantage of two bonuses to buy new ones. The 100 euro TV bonus is available to everyone, with no income limits. The Isee 20,000 TV Bonus scales up to 30 euros from a television or decoder if the income is equal to or less than 20,000 euros. But you must be resident in Italy, demonstrate that you pay the Rai license fee and that you can scrap a TV dating back to before December 2018. The two incentives can be combined for those who have all the requirements and the bonus will expire on 31 December 2022.
