The most popular motorcycle brands in Latvia this spring are “Yamaha” and “BMW”

In the first four months of 2022, the most popular motorcycle brands in Latvia are Yamaha and BMW, according to information compiled by the leasing company Citadele Leasing on motorcycle purchases in Latvia.

Representatives of the company informed the agency LETA that when purchasing new motorcycles, in the first four months of 2022, 39% of cases were purchased by legal entities, moreover, the demand for motorcycles and scooters powered only by electricity has increased.

In the motorcycle market, the demand for new vehicles has not changed significantly – 61% of purchases of new motorcycles were registered for individuals and 39% for legal entities. Motorcycles are most often purchased using their own funds, accounting for only about 13% of all transactions, according to data on the purchase of motorcycles in the first four months of 2022.

There is a growing public interest in electric-powered vehicles. This year, 60% more motorcycles or scooters were purchased in this category than in the same period last year.

The most popular motorcycle brands in the first four months of 2022 have been Yamaha and BMW, followed by Honda, KTM, Husqvarna and Kawasaki. It is also popular enough to buy Keeway, Piaggio, Triumph and Ducatti motorcycles or scooters.

Pēteris Plaudis, the head of Citadele Leasing in Latvia, informs that the demand in the motorcycle market is still stable, 55 new motorcycles were leased in the first four months of this year. A total of 425 new motorcycle units were sold on the market during this period.

As in other years, at the beginning of 2022, the most popular choice of motorcycle paint is black, chosen by 40% of buyers. White and gray motorcycles are also in the top three of the most popular color choices, while the most popular choice in the bright color segment is red, with 10% of buyers purchasing a vehicle in this color.

Citadele Leasing, a leasing company of the Citadele Group, had a turnover of 33.973 million euros last year, which is 0.3% more than in 2020, but the company’s profit increased 42.5 times and reached 13.983 million euros.

In May 2021, the leasing company SIA Citadele līzings un faktorings, part of the Citadele Bank Group, changed its name to Citadele Factoring, while on January 4, 2021, Citadele Bank also became the sole owner of SIA UniCredit Leasing, and UniCredit Leasing was renamed Citadele Leasing in early February. The two leasing companies in the group – Citadele Factoring and Citadele Leasing – continue to operate independently of each other.

Citadele Bank is the second largest bank in Latvia in terms of assets.
