The United Arab Emirates (UAE) media reported on March 29 that UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had appointed his eldest son, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as his son. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi – the largest of the 7 emirates that make up this Gulf state.
Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled was also appointed head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, by a separate decree.
President Sheikh Mohammed also appointed his younger brother Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Vice President of the UAE. The above decision has been approved by the UAE Federal Supreme Council. Incumbent Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum remains in this position.

In addition, another brother of President Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was also appointed as national security adviser.
