In recent weeks, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has led Polish diplomacy, including in connection with the crisis in Belarus. After Czaputowicz’s appeal, the Council for Foreign Affairs of the EU was convened, which gave the green light to sanctions against people who committed electoral fraud in Belarus.
In his diplomatic activity, as the head of the ministry, Czaputowicz has focused on regional policy, cooperation between the Baltic states, the Visegrad Group and the Three Seas Initiative. Together with the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, he supported the start of EU accession talks with the countries of the Western Balkans – Albania and North Macedonia, which finally happened this year.
As the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he conducted activities related to the peace process in the Middle East, as well as within the framework of the UN agency for the observance of religious freedom and its legal protection.
