Throughout all the controversy, the zeal of fans and the general mass appeal, STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER has crossed the $ 1 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the Seventh movie to do it in 2019 for Disney and the 5th movie to do it in the Star Wars franchise. Currently, THE RISE OF SKYWALKER's national totals are located at $ 481.3 million nationwide ($ 1.001 billion worldwide).
The previous entry, STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, ended in $ 1.3 billion worldwide, while STAR WARS: THE AWAKENING FORCE ended in $ 2 billion. It is certainly possible that RISE can match or possibly overcome the general take of THE LAST JEDI, but I bet on the good credits of Republic that does not approach the path of THE FORCE AWAKENS. RISE is likely to fall behind the latest version of THE LAST JEDI according to the first estimates, ending somewhere in the $ 1.1 billion framework, which is not exactly what falls into the cube, but it certainly does not close a saga of decades with the kind of "force" one might expect.
The other Disney members of the $ 1 billion club of 2019 include: AVENGERS: ENDGAME, THE LION KING, CAPTAIN MARVEL, TOY STORY 4, ALADDIN and FROZEN II. In addition, SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME by Sony and JOKER by WB also reached the one billion dollar mark in 2019, with a total of nine films per year. An impressive feat for the Mouse House, no doubt, and will surely be repeated to some extent in 2020, but it is not likely with as many tickets as 2019. Either way, it will be interesting to see and see who makes an offer for the estimated Billion Dollar Club in the coming year.
STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER now shows up in cinemas everywhere.
