The Royal Theater and the Madrid City Council have signed an agreement this Monday by which the main Spanish coliseum will carry out, starting next year 2023, a pedagogical project of musical promotion and didactics for children and young people in Daoíz and Velarde Cultural Centerin the Madrid district of Retiro.
With this agreement, the Daoíz and Velarde Cultural Center it will become the reference cultural and artistic space for children and young people in the city, Open to the publicin which all the titles and activities of El Real Junior will have a place, according to both entities.
In this sense, the Real Junior allows the pedagogical initiation in the performing arts to children and adolescents through programs of studio opera, educational concerts, dance, musical stories, puppets and workshops for the entire family. Your didactic guides and your program The Real in Your Class they allow the schools with which the Theater has an agreement to access this programming from their classrooms.
The act of signing the agreement was presided over by the mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, the delegate of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Andrea Levy. She has signed the collaboration agreement at the Town Hall with the president of the Teatro Real, Gregorio Marañón.
The project to convert the old Daoiz y Velarde artillery barracks into a cultural center began in the first decade of the 21st century, when large cultural spaces such as Matadero Madrid or Condeduque were renovated. After more than a decade of worksthe Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports will launch this great cultural container in the Retiro district that will help the decentralization of the culture of the capital and will reinforce the City Council’s commitment to Madrid’s cultural fabric.
