The Second Jordanian Sustainable Thought Conference to celebrate Women’s Day at the Applied Science Private University

Watan Al-Youm – In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Applied Science Private University in Jordan, in cooperation with the Samar Foundation for Marketing Consulting and the Amox Foundation for Marketing, held its second development conference under the title “The Second Jordanian Conference on Sustainable Thought” under the slogan “Women are at the center of the sustainable development goals towards 2030”, which was held on Sunday Corresponding to March 12, 2023 at the Conference Palace at the Applied Science Private University under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Haitham Abu Khadija, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and with the official participation of His Excellency Representative Dina Al-Bashir, His Excellency Representative Mayada Shreim, Kindness Nour Al-Lawzi, member of the Capital Governorate Council, and Kindness Dr. Najwa Qubaylat, Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs In the Ministry of Education, and a large presence of a scientific constellation, an elite group of women from the local community, and a number of leaders from various sectors, where the various scientific sessions took place and discussed many axes revolving around women and their active and important role in achieving the goals of sustainable development and the challenges facing their sustainable empowerment.
In a statement by His Excellency Dr. Haitham Abu Khadija, he expressed his pride in sponsoring this qualitative and distinguished conference, and expressed his appreciation and thanks to all the workers on this conference at the university and in the partner institutions and to all the honorable participating guests. He emphasized the university’s interest in this conference, which is in line with the university’s vision of global excellence and leadership in teaching and learning, applied scientific research, sustainability of development and community service. human, university and community environment, and prepare a generation of qualified graduates according to local and international standards to serve their communities. He also praised the working papers presented by the participants, which dealt with the successful Jordanian women’s experiences, and considered Jordanian women capable of facing challenges and overcoming sanctions, and expressed his happiness with the realistic experiences that were presented at the conference.
The conference started with a welcome speech from Prof. Dr. Saleh Al-Oqda, Vice President of the University and Dean of the College of Business, where he expressed the importance of this conference, which came to achieve the goals of the university and the university’s policy, which is based on serving the local community in order to achieve sustainable development. He talked about the goals of all departments in the university that are working on Developing creative thinking and scientific research to contribute to achieving development goals. This conference was considered one of the activities that work to promote sustainable thinking for women, which the university is of great interest to, and it also provided an overview of the university’s mechanisms, policies and activities aimed at achieving the goals of sustainable development.
Mrs. Samar Abu Hantash, CEO of the Samar Foundation for Marketing Consulting, founder of Karam Market and head of the organizing committee of the Jordanian Sustainable Thought Conference, delivered a speech on the vital role of women in achieving the goals of sustainable development. The interests and policies of all national sectors, as women are the key to achieving sustainable development, and the experiences presented at the conference confirm the capabilities and energies available to Jordanian women. Mrs. Samar Abu Hantash hoped that this conference would contribute to the formation of a new phase of developmental thinking among Jordanian women in a more comprehensive manner.

The conference sessions witnessed a number of distinguished working papers presented by the participants, and began with the speech of HE Representative Mayada Shreim, who spoke about her leadership experience and the importance of the role of women in sustainable development. The sessions continued with distinguished titles and with the participation of a group of women leaders. The first session was titled “Global and Jordanian interest in the fourth and fifth goals of the sustainable development goals.” Dr. Maha Shahada, a faculty member at the Applied Science Private University, Ms. Rola Sama’in, Counselor in Community Peace, and Dr. Rudeina Al-Batarseh, Deputy Director, participated in the sessions. Directorate of Central Laboratories at the Food and Drug Administration, and Dr. Nada Al-Rawabdeh, Director of the Documentation and Manuscripts Center at the University of Jordan. Dr. Kawthar Al-Qatarneh, General Manager of the Jordan Feed Bank, spoke about the role of women in achieving sustainable development goals and their connection to environmental and social issues with Ms. Maysoon Talilan, Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Committee of the Women’s Union, Ms. Rania Al-Hayyouk, Executive Director of the National Association for Family Empowerment, and Ms. Aisha Beniyeh, the designer and founder of the ROCH brand. In the third session, Mr. Sultan Al-Khalayleh, Rapporteur of the Youth Empowerment Committee at the Royal Commission for the Modernization of the Political System, spoke with Ms. Manal Al-Abd Al-Lat, Director of the Regional Network for Women, and Ms. Mona Bakir, the Master Chef, about women’s engagement in economic and political issues. His Excellency Dr. Najwa Qubeilat, the Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Education, spoke with Dr. Hanadi Al-Zughair, a faculty member at the Applied Science Private University, Mrs. Kholoud Abu Talib, Goodwill Ambassador and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Donatree Company, and Mrs. Nashwa Obaidat, Secretary-General of the Alumni Club of the Islamic Scientific College, about Scientific methods for developing women’s contributions through upbringing and home economics.
The sessions continued, where the media, Randa Azer, the media, Aseel Al-Khraisheh, the media, Sandra Qatamin, and Dr. Rania Ismail, the dramatic actress, spoke about the role of the Jordanian media in empowering women. In the sixth session, Mr. Hazem Al-Naimat, Vice President of the Jordanian Taekwondo Federation, and the media, Hiba Al-Sabbagh, Captain Obi Asaad, and Captain Ghadeer Diab, spoke about the contributions Jordanian women’s sports and their developmental role. In the seventh session, Ms. Samar Abu Hantash spoke about the role of digital media in empowering sustainable women with Mr. Omar Hamidat, the co-founder of DMS, and social media celebrities Ms. Lama and Ms. Salam. The last session dealt with women’s experiences in addressing challenges and overcoming obstacles. Ms. Nada Haroun spoke Director of the Jordan Office of the Life Organization for Relief and Development LIFE _ USA, Mrs. Intisar Al-Khatib, founder of the “Down Syndrome with us, our lives have meaning” initiative, Ms. Abedah Al-Qaisi, President of the Celiac Patients Care Association, and Ms. Samar Odeh, sign language expert at the Prince Ali Club for the Deaf, about their experiences and real-world experiences.
The sessions concluded with words expressing unique realistic and leadership success stories presented by each of Ms. Nour Al-Lawzi, a member of the Decentralized Capital Governorate Council, and His Excellency Representative Dina Al-Bashir, a Jordanian lawyer.
The conference was concluded by honoring the participating speakers, in the presence of a large group of media figures and dignitaries from the local community, in addition to dozens of entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized companies, to benefit from Jordanian knowledge, expertise and real-world experiences towards sustainable development. The organizing committee of the Jordanian Sustainable Thought Conference confirmed that this conference will continue to raise distinctive and important development issues, especially after the success it witnessed in its first and second editions. The committee chairperson expressed her pride in the start of preparation for the conference in its third edition.
