The Sonos app has received an important update! Receives DTS Digital Surround support and brings EQ settings directly to the main screen

Today we are informed that the Sonos S2 application has received a new software update. This adds new features, such as DTS Digital Surround support. If you use the Sonos application, you will be able to update by going to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Check for Updates. What’s new is the update below.

This update arrives on time, given that we are in the “trend” Hollywood at Home / Hollywood right at your home. In a study conducted by Sonos, 60% of respondents indicated that they prefer to see new movies at home, rather than in theaters. Thus, the company wanted to ensure that the customer experience will be as good and simple as possible.

The new update supports the DTS Digital Surround format, giving users a more immersive experience of the content being watched.

  • DTS Digital Surround: Sonos now supports the DTS Digital Surround format on Arc, Beam (Gen 2), Beam (Gen 1), Playbar, Playbase, and Amp products, using the Sonos S2 application. When DTS Digital Surround content is played, users will be able to see a badge on the “Now Playing” screen.
  • Roam and Move battery saving function: when this setting is enabled via the Sonos app, the portable speakers will turn off automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity. When closed, Move speakers will keep the battery level for up to 30 days, and those in the Roam model will keep their battery level for up to 70 days. When Battery Saver mode is enabled, users will need to turn on Move and Roam using the physical Power button before starting music playback.

In the coming months, this feature will be implemented for Android users.
