MOSCOW, April 15 – RIA News. Statements by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Russia, particularly in the context of events in Venezuela, are unacceptable, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti.
Pompeo said earlier that Russia allegedly intervened in Venezuela’s affairs without the permission of its authorities, while calling President Nicolas Maduro “Venezuelan’s former leader”.
"Moscow noted that during the ongoing tour of Latin American countries, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo allowed himself a number of unacceptable statements about our country, particularly in the context of the events in Venezuela," the source said.
He noted that "the undiplomatic manners of the current head of the US foreign affairs department cast doubt on the fact that he views Russian-American contacts at the appropriate level as an opportunity for constructive dialogue."
