The super typhoon Mangkhut suffers from millions in the Philippines

PThe Hilippin authorities began Thursday to evacuate thousands of people from the path of the most powerful typhoon. They shut down schools, prepared bulldozers for landslides, and put rescuers and troops on alert in the north.

More than 4 million people live in areas most at risk from the storm, which the Joint Typhoon Warning Center in Hawaii classified as a super typhoon with strong winds and gusts.

Typhoon Mangkhut could reach the northeastern province of Cagayan on Saturday.

It was traced around 725 kilometers (450 miles) away in the Pacific on Thursday with winds of 205 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 255 km / h, said Philippine forecasters.

With a massive rain cloud 900 kilometers wide, combined with seasonal monsoon rains, the typhoon could cause heavy to heavy rains that could trigger landslides and flash floods, meteorologists said.

Storm warnings were issued in 25 provinces on the northern main island of Luzon, which restricted sea and air travel.
