The Supreme Court of Belarus refused to initiate civil proceedings on the complaint filed by the ex-head of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko because of the refusal of the country’s Central Election Commission to register him as a presidential candidate. The relevant definition is published on the court website.

“In instituting civil proceedings on a complaint filed and signed on behalf of Babariko V.D. its representative, Mark MA, refuse, ”the document says.

Thus, the Supreme Court upheld the CEC decision to refuse to register Babariko as his candidate for presidency in Belarus. The election committee made the corresponding decision on July 14.

The chairman of the republic’s Central Election Commission, Lidia Yermoshina, said that Babariko’s declaration did not reflect real estate, material assets, and income from several controlled firms. In addition, the CEC said that a foreign organization participated in financing the election campaign of the ex-head of Belgazprombank.
