The demand and pressure of a huge team like the New York Yankees requires players as managers and managers to make difficult decisions. And 27-year-old Jace Peterson had to make a pretty complicated decision.

On Sunday, INF Jace Peterson elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment. – Yankees PR Dept. (@YankeesPR) April 16, 2018 Peterson made his Major League debut in 2014, and since then he has been roaming the league without managing to establish himself in the Atlanta Braves and the San Diego Padres. The second baseman had landed at the Yankees earlier this year, signing a minor league contract.

Things were going well for Peterson, who started the season in the Major Leagues, but his participation had been very little, playing in only two games so far, but connecting 3 hits in 9 at-bats.

Now, the Yankees started making moves on their roster due to the low performance of some players and injuries. The New York team tried to get Peterson down to the minor leagues, but the player preferred another option: He went for free agency. The second baseman opted for dignity and try free agency before falling back into the anonymity of playing in Triple A. Jace Peterson, recently DFA by NY Yankees, elected free agency. He’s available and plays second. Keep an eye on him. Could back up Frazier at 2B. – John Sacco (@sacco_john) April 16, 2018
