The typical team of PSG of the Qatari era

Salvatore Sirigu (2011-2017)

Purchased 4M € in Palermo in July 2011, Salvatore Sirigu will be untouchable in the Parisian cage during his first four seasons. However, while the PSG can not pass the quarterfinals of the C1, the club decides to find him a replacement, and he will lose his place as holder in favor of Kevin Trapp during the 2015-2016 season. However, he remains an emblematic player at the beginning of the Qatari project.

Dani Alves (2017-today)

Difficult to choose a right back in the Qatari era. Christophe Jallet did not resist the arrival of Qatar, Grégory Van der Wiel was very inconstant, Thomas Meunier has never imposed, and Serge Aurier saw his record tarnished by the case of chicha and insults to Laurent Blanc. Recruited last summer to bring his experience to PSG, Dani Alves has, in sequence, succeeded his mission. He wins his place in the team thanks to his offensive contribution, his leadership in the locker room, but on the big matches, no right back is really convincing.

Marquinhos (2013-today)

Purchased € 31.4m at AS Roma in 2013, Marquinhos has become a staple of the Parisian defense on his arrival. He is still very young (23 years old) but is a reference to his position. Laurent Blanc and Unai Emery have never doubted him, and that reveals everything.

Thiago Silva (2012-today)

In July 2012, the Qatari PSG achieved one of the best shots of his young history by hijacking Thiago Silva, then considered the best defender of the world, at AC Milan. He is briefly the most expensive player in Ligue 1 (€ 42m), and will justify his rank in his first two seasons. He will struggle to regain his level in the 2014-2015 season after the chaotic end of Brazil at its 2014 World Cup, even if he does not take part in the fatal 7-1 against Germany. O Monstro remains a reference to his position, even if his status has a little broken, as evidenced by his presence on the bench in the first knockout round of C1 this season against Real Madrid.

Maxwell (2012-2017)

Today the club’s sports coordinator, Maxwell has marked the Parisian fans during his five years in the capital, with his smile, his state of mind and his enormous energy draft. Sure defensively, present offensively, he is unquestionably titular in our team-type. Neither Berchiche nor Kurzawa have been at his level since.

Marco Verratti (2012-today)

Arrived in unknown in the capital in 2012, from Pescara (Italian Serie B), Marco Verratti has his place on our team, because he has revealed himself in the capital to become one of the best circles in the world. At 25, Verratti retains flaws, and some are sometimes frustrated that he does not fully express his potential, but his sense of the pass, his vision of play, make him a rare player.

Thiago Motta (2012-today)

If he will put an end to his career at the end of the season, Thiago Motta will have been one of the main symbols of Qatari PSG. He constituted ” the DNA of the team With Marco Verratti, according to Laurent Blanc. Motta, untouchable sentinel, brought this touch of Barcelona to PSG, insurance in the midfield. A page will turn with its end of career.

Blaise Matuidi (2011-2017)

Started for Juventus last summer, Blaise Matuidi also has his place on our team as he has swallowed the miles for the club, with a generosity in the efforts become his hallmark. Among the first recruits of the Qatari era, he was installed as an irremovable element by Antoine Kombouaré, and his status was further strengthened under Carlo Ancelotti and Laurent Blanc. Not necessarily the most attractive element of the team’s ball, Matuidi was the lungs, and still scored 33 goals with the club, including several in key moments (8 in the Champions League).

Edinson Cavani (2013-today)

Purchased in Naples 64M € in 2013, Edinson Cavani is obviously a member of our team-type. Become the top scorer in the history of PSG in January Cavani confirmed his talents as outstanding finishers in the capital. Sometimes criticized for its lack of realism and for its low participation in the game, the Uruguayan is nevertheless part of the references to his position. His coexistence with Zlatan Ibrahimovic was however complicated, since the Matador had to be exported on one side to exist.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2012-2016)

Coming as a king and re-emerging as a PSG legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the most charismatic player in the Qatari era, according to his own words. With the Swede, the PSG has changed dimension in terms of sports, but especially media. Ibra’s outings, his goals from elsewhere, his leadership, marked the club. He was the star of the team during his four years in the capital. He is present on the Hall of Fame of the club , while Edinson Cavani or Neymar are not there.

Neymar (2017-today)

Become the most expensive player on the planet (222M €) last summer, Neymar has brought the PSG into a higher world, including the media. His transfer had a worldwide impact and shone the spotlight on the club. Designated as a Golden Ball in power, the Brazilian scored 29 goals and delivered 19 assists in 30 games in all competitions for his first season, before being stopped by an injury at the worst moment, for the final sprint. With his aura, his talent, the jubilation that surrounds him permanently, Neymar has his place in the Qatari type team. He poses as a symbol of his new breath, just like a Mbappé.
