US Energy Secretary Rick Perry confirmed that Washington plans to impose additional sanctions against Russia's energy sector, as well as against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Perry was asked if sanctions would be imposed if the pipeline was continued and if new sanctions were planned against the energy sector. "Yes, this is an affirmative answer to the first and second question," he said.
In addition, Assistant US Treasury Secretary Marshall Billingsley said that Washington is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Russian company Sukhoi, Tass reports.
"Obviously, we are very concerned that their aircraft, for example, can be used in chemical attacks against the innocent in Syria," Billingsley explained.
Earlier it was reported that the US plans to introduce a "very tough" second package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the alleged use of nerve agent "Novice" in the British Salisbury.
