The Westminster victim remained in the water for five minutes as the captain of the temporary boat thought she was already dead

GAreth Patterson QC, representing Ms. Cristea's family, said she had been in the river for two minutes when she was first secured, but remained immersed for five minutes before being released.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Markley had even released her to issue a certificate that he saw floating in the river.

Mr Patterson asked Mr Cooper, 'My suggestion is that if you wanted to get them out, Mr Gordon Markley and another man could have gotten them out of the water with this 15-foot pole.

"My suggestion is that the hook is enough to grab the person and pull it up with the help of another person.

"That was a young woman of 5 feet 5 inches, slender, weighing only 11 stones, do you really think she could not be lifted by two men?"

The witness said: "Definitely not"
