“Back to Hogwarts” – 25 years of Harry Potter in Germany: Further campaigns planned for the anniversary year
Due to the great success, the term of “The Wizarding World Shop by Thalia” in the Hamburg lobby has been extended. The pop-up store was originally supposed to be in Hamburg until the end of July 2023, but will now remain open for another six months. More than 200,000 visitors have visited the magical shop from the opening in August 2022 to May 2023.
“The Wizarding Word Shop by Thalia” is the only one of its kind on the European mainland. The special look of the shop, which is based on Hogwarts down to the last detail, and the interactive elements enable visitors to immerse themselves in a magical world and guarantee a magical shopping experience. A fireplace seating area reminiscent of Hogwarts School of Magic and life-size characters from the Harry Potter saga are among the highlights. The shop offers a wide range of Harry Potter-related products as well as tickets for the show experience Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is within walking distance of the shop in Mehr! Theater am Großmarkt is performed are available there. For this year, the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter in Germany, not only many special offers in the shop are planned, but also design extensions with new figures. Among others, the famous design duo MiaLima is expected in October this year, and influencer campaigns and social media campaigns for fans will also be implemented.
“The Wizarding World Shop by Thalia” also inspires experts: For this year’s Excellence Awards from Licensing International, the Wandelhalle Hamburg and “The Wizarding World Shop by Thalia” were recognized in the category “Best Retailer – Entertainment, Character” as one of the finalists nominated. The award winners will be announced on June 12th in Las Vegas.

Harry Potter and the Enchanted Child – the Hamburg theater highlight
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child makes JK Rowling’s magical universe come alive as a fantastic theater experience live in Hamburg. The adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione continue and magic becomes reality on stage. Nineteen years have passed since the friends saved the wizarding world. But the battle is not yet won: Because darkness often comes from where you least expect it… Harry Potter and the Enchanted Child celebrated its German-language premiere on December 5, 2021 in Hamburg. Since then, the spectacular theatrical adventure has been bringing the magic live to the stage of the Mehr! Theater at the wholesale market.
JK Rowling wrote seven world-famous novels based on the life of Harry Potter from the ages of eleven to eighteen. The eighth story in Rowling’s magic saga is the first and only one to be experienced live as a theatrical production and continues the success of the books and films on stage: the play has been playing to a full house in London since 2016 and has won nine Olivier Awards the most award-winning production of all time. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was also successful on New York’s Broadway in six categories at the equally renowned Tony Awards and, with a total of 25 awards, became the most awarded production of the theater season. Other venues include Toronto and Tokyo. In Hamburg, the German version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child can be seen for the first time as a non-English language production.
