The world’s first smartphone with a 1.0 inch image sensor

Sony introduces the Xperia PRO-1 for vloggers and content creators. The Xperia PRO-I combines a 1.0 inch sensor, a 24 mm ZEISS Tessar Optics lens, advanced image processing, fast AF (autofocus), 4K 120p video recording and more professional functions in an ultra-thin 8.9 mm smartphone.

Vloggers can take advantage of a new Vlog Monitor so they can see themselves while recording. This accessory can be paired with the Xperia PRO-I and offers an aspect ratio of 16:9 on a 3.5-inch LCD screen (1280×720).

The Exmor RS sensor has a pixel pitch of 2.4 µm for excellent low light performance. This unit offers RAW 12-bit for perfect dynamic range and double aperture (F2.0/F4.0) for easy adjustments in depth of field.

In addition to a 1.0-inch sensor, the Xperia PRO-I has a BIONZ X for mobile image processor and a front-end LSI.

The Xperia PRO-I has three lenses with ZEISS T anti-reflective coating and a 3D iToF sensor. The newly developed 24mm lens uses ZEISS Tessar Optics. This lens offers a high resolution with less image distortion, a more intense contrast and more sharpness, Sony promises.

It is also the first smartphone that allows content creators to record high-quality video in 4K 120 fps.

Prices and availability of Xperia PRO-I and the ‘Vlog Monitor’ will be announced at a later date.
