Theft of ATMs: In Bushmills, the ATM was torn from the wall

Thieves have used an excavator to rip an ATM from a shop in Bushmills, County Antrim.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning on the marketplace.

After the robbery, the excavator was set on fire. The fire department was called to deal with the flame.

It is the latest in a series of ATM thefts in Northern Ireland since the beginning of 2019.

Thieves beat nine times and stole 10 single ATMs.

There were also thefts in Kingscourt and Castleblayney in the Republic of Ireland.

In February, the PSNI set up a special task force to deal with the thefts.

The police assume that at least two gangs are involved.
