The Agency, Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) conveyed information on the potential for coastal flooding (rob) in a number of regions of Indonesia. There are 15 regions of Indonesia that have the potential for tidal flooding, including DKI Jakarta.
BMKG said the potential for tidal flooding in a number of coastal areas of Indonesia will occur from today to June 7. Residents are asked to be vigilant.
“The existence of a new moon phase on May 30, 2022 has the potential to cause an increase in sea level height. Based on monitoring of water level data and tidal predictions, coastal flooding (rob) has the potential to occur in several coastal areas of Indonesia on May 30-7 June 2022, “said Head of the Center for Maritime Meteorology Eko Prasetyo in his statement, Monday (30/5/2022).
The following is a list of 15 areas that have the potential for tidal flooding until June 7:
- North Sumatra
- West Sumatra
- Bangka Belitung
- DKI Jakarta
- West Java
- Central Java
- East Java
- West Kalimantan
- South Kalimantan
- East Kalimantan
BMKG said the potential for tidal flooding is predicted to occur at different times in each region. The BMKG said this condition could disrupt community activities at ports and coasts.
“The public is advised to always be vigilant and alert to anticipate the impact of the Maximum Sea Water Tidal and pay attention to maritime weather information updates from the BMKG,” said Eko.
