Game News These Square Enix games you won’t be able to play soon… even if you bought them!

Definitely, there is real change at Square-Enix: in addition to having sold its Western franchises and studios, certain video games put on the market will simply disappear from the surface. Explanations.
A takeover with consequences
A brief reminder of the facts: a short time ago, we were surprised to learn that Embracer Group (which owns THQ Nordic, Plaion and many others) had bought Western studios like Crystal Dynamics or Eidos Montreal from Square-Enix, getting its hands on franchises like Tomb Raider or Deus Ex. And this acquisition has other consequences on certain games.
Among the acquired firms, there was also Square Enix Montreal, authors of several mobile titles. Not only has this entity closed its doors as we told you at the beginning of the month, but these games concerned will simply be withdrawn from the market next December 1: we are talking here about Deus Ex GO, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, Arena Battle Champions and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes. They will be completely deactivated on January 4, 2023.
No refunds provided if…
Le hic, is that some of these Android and iOS games were paid and/or also offered microtransactions. For example, Deus Ex GO is still available on stores at 5.99 euros.
If you have made in-game purchases and these remain unused on the fateful date of January 4th, beware: no refund is provided. Similarly if you have purchased any application, which again raises the “problem” of dematerialized: even purchased, these do not belong to the players and the publishers can delete them at their discretion.
We recall that despite everything, a new Tomb Raider is currently in design for current platforms; likewise, it is said that a new Deus Ex is currently in the workseven if it would still be at a very early stage.
