A great discovery was made by a group of researchers from the Isaac Newton Academy in London, who created a condom that they called S.T EYE, which changes color because it is able to detect some sexually transmitted diseases.
This was achieved thanks to the addition of a molecule to the latex of the condom, which causes the material to change its tone when it comes into contact with an STD virus.
"We created S.T EYE as a new way to detect sexually transmitted diseases and help future generations. We wanted to create something with which people are more secure and can take immediate action, "said Daanyaal Ali, one of the leaders of this project.
This novel condom is able to detect 4 sexually transmitted diseases. It changes to green if there is presence of chlamydia, yellow if it detects herpes, blue if it detects syphilis and purple to the human papillomavirus (HPV).
