Thirty farmers receive a ticket after setting fire to tires and wood on A1 | NOW

On Tuesday evening, the police fined thirty farmers who caused nuisance on the A1 highway. During a protest against the nitrogen policy, they set fire to tires and wood, among other things.

According to a police spokesman, the activists had come to the A1 with “about fifteen tractors”.

Although the road was not busy, the action caused inconvenience to motorists as they had to reduce speed. The exit to Markelo was temporarily closed.

At around 11:30 p.m., the police reported Twitter that the protest action had ended and that the fires had been extinguished.
