Wolfsburg – Sports director Jörg Schmadtke from VfL Wolfsburg has once again expressed his confidence in his coach Florian Kohfeldt and the responsibility of the players for the sporting crisis in table 15. remembered in the Bundesliga.

“I have the impression that this is all about the whereabouts of the manager and coach and we talk less about the performance,” said the sporting director after the 0-2 defeat at RB Leipzig in a Sky interview .

“We talk less about who is down there in the end. That’s the way it is overall, it’s become so common that in these difficult phases – we don’t need to beat around the bush, it’s an extremely modest situation, it’s not pleasant for anyone – but as a player you go home relatively unmolested, do your training and go away again, »said Schmadtke. “It’s a bit different for coaches and management.”

The Wolfsburg have been without a win in eleven games in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Nevertheless, Schmadtke said: “The backing for Florian Kohfeldt is still just as stable as it was in the weeks before and yesterday immediately after the game.”

The next home game against the bottom of the table SpVgg Greuther Fürth on February 6 is “a final for all of us,” said the 57-year-old. “Whether this is a final for Florian is something I would leave open and we will see. But I don’t think I need to beat around the bush that it’s a game that’s of the utmost importance to us, including for the remainder of the season.”
