Less than 2 months after the tragic death of actor Luke Perry, who played Fred Andrews in Riverdale, his character will leave the series.
Since some episodes had been filmed before Luke's death, Archie's dad was still on the show.
Whenever he appeared to advise his son or to celebrate the birthday of his friend FP Jones, our heart broke a little.
Luke passed away on March 4, 2019 at the age of 52. He suffered a severe stroke on February 27 and, after being in a coma for 5 days, the hard decision had to be made by his family to let him go.
The whole team of Riverdale was shocked by the news and the production was delayed, to give time to his colleagues to mourn, but also writers to think about how to pay tribute to Luke, while completing the narrative of Fred.
We now know that the last episode in which Fred Andrews will appear will be broadcast this week, including Wednesday, April 24 on The CW and Thursday, April 25 on Netflix.
It is Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creator of Riverdale, who announced it on Instagram by publishing this photo.
The picture of Luke, in the skin of Fred, is accompanied by the following message: "The #Riverdale this week is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred conveys his wisdom to Archie. A beautiful and true moment between a father and his son. I wish these scenes could last forever … "
We'll see how the show chooses to announce the departure of Fred Andrews, a secondary character, but still very important.
