Three children were hospitalized with Covid-19 in Liepāja Hospital

Three children and their mothers were hospitalized with Covid-19 at Liepāja Hospital last weekend, confirmed Indra Grase, a public relations specialist at Liepāja Regional Hospital.

One child was four years old, another ten months old, and a third four months old.

All the children and their mothers have already been discharged from the hospital, Grase adds.

On Monday, 52 Covid-19-positive patients are being treated at Liepaja Hospital, eight of whom are in resuscitation, four of whom require artificial lung ventilation due to an extremely serious medical condition, and three patients are receiving high-flow oxygen therapy.

One other patient in the Covid-19 unit also received a high-flow oxygen therapy bed.

Five Covid-19 patients died at the hospital between November 17 and November 22, a hospital spokeswoman said.

One of the deaths recorded last day was reported to be between the ages of ten and 19. Data from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (SPCC) suggest that one Covid-19 patient has died in this age group to date.

At the Rezekne hospital, LETA was confirmed that an 18-year-old young man who had been infected with Covid-19 had died in the hospital last week. The deceased had several risk factors that could have contributed to the severe course of the disease. The patient has not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Two of the dead on Sunday were between the ages of 50 and 59, four between the ages of 60 and 69, and five between the ages of 70 and 79. Another three died between the ages of 80 and 89, and two in the 90-99 age group.

Of all the deaths, 15 were unvaccinated or did not complete the vaccination course, while two were vaccinated.
