Three criminals killed during the rescue of a kidnapped

Three individuals were killed during a rescue operation for a kidnapping victim in the Chaguaramos sector, Carlos Arvelo municipality (Carabobo), according to military sources.

The rescued is Oscar Iván Quintero Mejía, a Colombian businessman who has been kidnapped since Saturday, October 9. The kidnappers are members of the criminal group Los Trujillanos who demanded a high sum of dollars from the victim’s relatives for their release.

Since the criminals came into contact with the relatives of the kidnapped, they reported the incident to the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas).

When the Conas commissions arrived at the place where Quintero Mejía was staying, an armed confrontation took place, as a result of which three members of the criminal organization were killed, whose identity is yet to be known.

At the end of the skirmish, the military rescued Quintero safe and sound. At the site, they also seized three 9 mm pistols: a Caracal, serial BS558, another Sig-Sauer and a third Smith & Wesson, as well as a pair of handcuffs.

The Public Ministry was informed of the procedure.
