host – home of sustainable taste. Under this name, the from Frankfurt will grow by two more brands in April. The traditional Senckenberg Bistro and the catering company Silverspoon will be taken over by the gastronomy holding host and will therefore remain an important part of the Frankfurt gastronomy landscape in the future.

The Senckenberg Bistro has been an integral part of the Natural History Museum in Frankfurt since 1972. In the guest room over two floors and the terrace with a view of the Frankfurt skyline, guests are offered daily changing dishes with fresh regional products. In 2015, Mirko Radovic and Sasa Riger took over the bistro from gastronomy veteran Gerd Käfer and continued the long tradition of the Frankfurt bistro. In addition, with their own catering company Silverspoon, they also use the event areas in the Senckenberg Natural History Museum, which has already received numerous awards for the opportunity to dine under dinosaur bones millions of years old. “For private reasons, we have been dealing with the issue of succession for some time,” says Sasa Riger. “It was important to us that we find someone who lives and understands gastronomy. We also wanted to give our well-established team the security that all jobs would be taken over. host gives us exactly this security and thus a good feeling when looking into the future.”

host, based in Frankfurt am Main, was founded to offer a successor solution for unique gastronomy concepts. “We are aware of the problem that many restaurateurs are facing at the moment,” says the managing director of host Markus Langkamm. “Far too often, restaurants, bistros or cafés that have been built up over the years with dedication and passion disappear because their owners cannot find a suitable successor. With home of sustainable taste, we want to take a new approach against the extinction of individual gastronomy and preserve a colorful and diverse gastronomic landscape.” It is part of the host concept that the brands, the employees and the history of the companies are continued in the spirit of the founders. host’s mission is: We buy to receive. With the latest acquisition, home of sustainable taste now unites five companies from different areas of gastronomy.

Sasa Riger will continue to work as an employed manager in both the bistro and the catering company. “With host we want to preserve the tradition of individual gastronomy and at the same time make the processes in the companies future-proof. Therefore, we are very pleased when the previous owners walk this path together with us,” says Langkamm.
