Totalcar – Magazine – This could be the fastest charging electric SUV in the world

Xpeng didn’t skimp on promises when they launched the G9 SUV for the first time. Now the production model has arrived, with which they would also conquer Europe. Not too modestly, it is referred to as the fastest charging electric SUV in the world.

The car received an electric drive with a system voltage of 800 volts, with silicon carbide battery technology. They say that the company’s own lightning charging network, marked S4, can pump in up to 480 kilowatts of electricity, so it can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 15 minutes, while it can absorb enough energy for 200 kilometers in five minutes.

According to the measurement cycle valid in China (CLTC), they say a range of around 700 kilometers, but the general WLTP data for us is more modest: 460-570 kilometers. Admittedly, even this can be said to be quite cheeky. Of course, this largely depends on the configuration, which will make a pair. A total of six versions are planned, for example, there will be a rear-wheel drive with an output of around 310 horsepower and a torque of 430 newton meters, and an all-wheel drive with 550 horsepower and 716 newton meters.

They don’t skimp on driving aids either, including lidar, 31 sensors and forward-looking cameras that will provide the system with data. The voice control receives instructions from anywhere in the passenger compartment and can distinguish about 600 commands. The 660-liter trunk is also quite convincing.

The Chinese distribution of the Xpeng G9 will begin in October, but the European premiere will have to wait a little longer. Exactly which markets are targeted is for the time being the music of the future.
