DECRYPTION – The jurisdiction of Toulon has nevertheless put itself in battle order to respond to this unprecedented situation.

While the minors on the humanitarian ship were taken care of by child welfare, the 189 adults had, for their part, been placed in a “waiting area” before being interviewed by the Office French Protection for Refugees and Stateless Persons (Ofpra).
However, when a person is placed in a center of this type, they can stay there for four days, after which the procedure obliges them to request an extension of their stay in the waiting area – the maximum period of which is 26 days – from the a liberty and detention judge.
