Nashville striker Mikael Granlund and his wife Emmi mourn. You have lost your second child. Emmi Granlund was stillborn last week. With moving words, she said goodbye to the little girl in an Instagram post: «Our little angel was born without a heartbeat. We find hope in the thought that she is now up there and looking at us as a guardian angel. »
It was only this summer that the Finns got married in their home in Helsinki Cathedral and celebrated with NHL teammates. In late autumn, the couple announced that they would be expecting the second child in a few months.
The Granlunds are already parents of little son Milo (1), who was born in March 2019 just a few days after Mikael Granlund’s trade. The 28-year-old came from Nashville to Minnesota in exchange for our Swiss striker Kevin Fiala (23).
Granlund’s fellow countryman, NHL striker Erik Haula (29, Florida / Carolina) experienced the same tragedy three months ago. His unborn daughter died shortly before the turn of the year in the belly of his mother Kristen Haula.
A nightmare for Sharks star Evander Kane (28) in March 2019, the Canadian and his wife lost their baby in week 26. They had already given the girl a name, Eva. “It broke the hearts of our parents-to-be,” wrote the striker at the time.
Erik Karlsson (29) and his wife Melinda also had to go through this painful experience in 2018. The wife of the then Ottawa player lost their son a month before the date of birth.
