After the fatal train accident near Münster-Altheim, part of the RB 75 route is reopened. Buses continue to run between Dieburg and Aschaffenburg.

The accident site near Altheim is still being cleaned up. The cranes are gone, excavators are used instead. The route should not be fully passable again until mid-June.

MÜNSTER – After the freight train accident near Altheim on Thursday, in which a train driver died when one freight train ran into another, Deutsche Bahn Netz AG has now given new details about the repair of the route: Accordingly, the blocked section of the route Darmstadt – Aschaffenburg reduced, but the work will probably last until mid-June (we have reported).
Rail replacement service between Dieburg and Aschaffenburg
The Hessian State Railway will resume regional train operations on the RB 75 between Darmstadt and Dieburg from Wednesday, May 25th. Furthermore, a rail replacement service is offered between Dieburg and Aschaffenburg. It is also being checked whether rail operations can also be started on the section between Aschaffenburg and Babenhausen, the Hessian State Railway announced on Tuesday. The changed timetables are available online at www.hlb-online.de or www.rmv.de. As reported, the turning of the trains depends on the power supply and the signaling systems. These requirements are met in the station in Dieburg. This is currently being checked in Babenhausen. It is conceivable that a train service to Aschaffenburg will also be set up here and that the replacement buses will only run between Dieburg and Babenhausen. The investigation into the cause of the accident continues. A spokesman for the Federal Police told this newspaper that a result is unlikely this week.
