Olympique Lyonnais will have to change their tune for their midfielder. The French club had made progress in recent days on the recruitment of Ellyes Skhiri (27 years old). The Cologne midfielder is having a convincing season in the Bundesliga.
Six months from the end of his contract, OL had smelled a good deal. But the Tunisian international (52 caps) has decided to end the season with Cologne, with a team and a coach with whom he has flourished this year. The former Montpellier player will make a choice about his future next summer, but the risk of coming to Lyon in January was too great for a player for whom family balance is so important.
Other clubs have positioned themselves to bring Ellyes Skhiri free at the end of the season, including two Germans. Lyon will have competition next summer if the Rhodaniens are still interested, but in the meantime, the leaders have three days left to find their midfielder this winter.
