Transport weighs on the budget of Angers Loire Métropole

These are the premises of a budget prudent which were presented by Christophe Béchu, Monday, February 13, during the community council. In 2023, Angers Loire Métropole should experience a 13.5% increase in its operating costs, due in particular to the rise in energy costs.

The transport item will be particularly impacted by inflation, with an increase in expenditure of 16 million euros. This budget also marks the end of investments in the tramway: a final envelope of 30 million euros will be granted, before final bills in 2024, around 10 million euros.

In the end, the 2023 draft budget sees revenue increase by €20 million, less than expenditure, which increases by €30 million. As a result, the debt will widen a little, to €550 million, and the savings of the community will drop a little, to €62 million. We remain within the objectives that we had set ourselvesdefends Christophe Béchu, rapporteur for the budgetary orientation debate.

For the opposition, Silvia Camara-Tombini (Aimer Angers) deplored a worrying level of savings and debt given the context.
