TROY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A Troy, Mo woman is charged with allegedly stealing painkillers from her terminally ill daughter and abusing her.
Carol Ballweg is accused of stealing a controlled substance and the abuse of an elderly, disabled or vulnerable person.
Police say she is the housekeeper of her 20-year-old terminal-sick daughter, who is in hospice care. Doctors for her daughter told the police that they had made hotline calls for taking care of Ballway's daughter and had investigated the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
The Troy Family Practice staff said that Ballweg's daughter Fentanyl and oxycodone have been prescribed and that Ballweg has repeatedly called for them to be refilled earlier than necessary.
Because they were worried about Ballweg's daughter, the doctors performed a urine test that showed no signs that the prescribed drugs were in their system. The police said that the doctors then decided to stop fulfilling the prescriptions.
The medical staff told the officials that Ballwegs daughter had developed bedsores.
Troy's police officers searched for Ballwegs Haus on Tuesday. During the search, the police said that Ballweg has admitted that she has opioid addiction and uses her daughter's prescribed oxycodone.
Ballweg is charged $ 100,000 in bail instructing her not to have contact with her daughter when she is released from prison.
