Trump: ‘Ex-employee who testified before committee is crazy’

Cassidy Hutchinson, the capitol chief witness who accused Donald Trump of physically assaulting his own employees on Tuesday, is mad. That said the former president Thursday in an interview with the far-right American television channel Newsmax.

“She lives in a fantasy world,” Trump said. Hutchinson told the committee investigating the storming of the US House of Representatives in a public hearing on Tuesday that Trump used physical violence against one of his associates.

The incident took place on January 6, 2021, following a speech the president had given at a rally of his supporters. Trump wanted to go to the Capitol, where things were already getting out of hand at the time, but his employees drove him to the White House. Trump then grabbed the steering wheel of the car and when the then chief of the Secret Service Bobby Engle tried to stop him, Trump grabbed it by the throat. ‘I am the fucking president† Take me to the Capitol,” Trump exclaimed, Hutchinson said.

The former employee also testified that days before Jan. 6, Trump’s attorney Rudi inquired Guilliani “if she was too excited” about that particular day. She went on to say that “starting in late December 2020,” there were repeated talks of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, two far-right groups of Trump supporters, many of whose members eventually stormed the Capitol.

Former right-hand man

Hutchinson is the former right-hand man of Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows and was therefore particularly well versed in the ins and outs of the White House. Her desk was also practically next to the president’s office. However, she was not present at the incident in the service car. This was heard in a conversation with other employees, where Engle was also present.

Trump claims Hutchinson wanted to work for him but was told by several that he shouldn’t hire her. “She was disrespected by White House staff,” Trump said. “They said to me, ‘Stay away from her.’ I won’t say exactly what they had against her, but they had a lot of reasons to warn me about her.’ Trump also said on Thursday that he “barely knew” Hutchinson and knew nothing about her.
