Formula 1 has officially confirmed the return to the 2021 calendar of the track Intercity Istanbul Park between October 1-3, 2021 to dispute the Turkish Grand Prix, following the recent news that the Singapore Grand Prix cannot go ahead as planned.
Earlier this season, the Turkish Grand Prix was removed from the calendar due to international travel restrictions, but Formula 1 made it clear that the promoter had requested the possibility of rejoining the calendar later if possible.
The Formula 1 community will continue to travel this season with strict security measures that have allowed us to continue with this season’s calendar. During the first seven races, more than 44,000 COVID-19 tests have been carried out, with 27 positive cases and a rate of 0.06%, the majority having occurred during the first part of the season.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, has stated that he is delighted to return to Turkey at the Intercity Istanbul Park circuit. “We hope to see another fantastic race again on one of the best circuits in the world. We want to thank those responsible for Intercity Istanbul Park and Mr. Vural Ak for their personal efforts to make this event take place.”.
“We have shown that we can continue to adapt and there is great interest in our sport and hope in many places to have a Grand Prix. We have had very good conversations with all the other promoters since the beginning of the year and we will continue to work closely with them during this period.”.
