twenty-five stores on strike in East Flanders

This is an action of stores dependent on the Erpe-Mere d’Aldi power plant.

“Shops in the Ghent region, Waesland and the Flemish Ardennes are on strike and have not opened. The workers themselves closed the stores, so it was not the unions that set up pickets. But, we support the action ”, indicates Philippe De Pandelaere of ACV. “The overload of work since the introduction of the new Aniko concept is the basis of the workers’ discontent.”

Store managers also denounce the workload. “They have to work longer and spend almost 12 hours in their branch. Management wants to discuss the status of the managers at the end of October but they demand that the national negotiator for Aldi organize a short-term meeting with the unions ”.
