Two Americans jailed for helping Carlos Ghosn escape

by archyw

A court in Tokyo sentenced former US Special Forces soldier Michael Taylor to two years in prison and his son Peter to one year and eight months for helping Carlos Ghosn, the former head of Nissan Motor Co., escape from Japan where he was facing financial misconduct charges.
Taylor and his son pleaded guilty and apologized to the court last month, saying they regretted their role in smuggling Ghosn from Japan hidden in a box on a private plane that took off from Kansai Airport.

Ghosn is still on the run in Lebanon, his hometown. The Lebanese government is not bound by an extradition agreement with Japan.
