Dr. Sakthi Karunanithi, director of public health and wellbeing at the Lancashire County Council, said: “The two people with coronavirus are well cared for and isolate at home. Their close contacts are being followed up by Public Health England.
“I would like to emphasize that if you have not been contacted by Public Health England, all you have to do is follow general advice.
“Our advice remains the same. Good hygiene is the best prevention. You can take a few simple steps to protect yourself and your family by washing your hands regularly and thoroughly. When you cough, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue.
“I want to reassure people that we are working with colleagues from the NHS and Public Health England to do everything possible to stop the virus from spreading and to ensure that people in Lancashire are protected.
“If you have recently been to one of the affected countries and you feel uncomfortable, you should immediately call the NHS 111 hotline for further advice – please do not contact your doctor.
