The unclaimed $1.337 million Mega Millions prize has finally been claimed. But the surprise is that it is not a single person who asked for the prize, but two.

It should be remembered that the winning ticket was sold for the July 29 drawing in Des Plaines, Illinois, but the winners waited several weeks before asking for the money.

Nevertheless, Earlier today, Illinois Lottery officials announced that two people came forward as the winners. The two had previously agreed that they would split the money if they won, and it turned out they did it big.

According to Emilia Mazur, a spokeswoman for Camelot Illinois, the private administrator of the Illinois Lottery, said the winners preferred to remain anonymous and showed up just in time to request the money in a single cash payment. The deadline for this option was this coming September 27, as reported on NPR.

If they did not show up, they would be forced to receive the prize in annual installments for 29 years.

It should be noted that the state of Illinois is one of 16 states in the US where winners can choose to remain anonymous, which is why we will not know their identities.

The reason the two winners had not collected their money is because spent the last few weeks working with professional legal and financial advisors to make the prize claim process as smooth as possiblein addition to having a plan on how to invest it.

The winning numbers for this draw were: 13-36-45-57-67, Mega Ball: 14.

This is the third largest prize that has been won in the entire history of the country.
