Denpasar – Two Polish foreigners (foreigners) Karol Grabinski and Barbara Karina Walczak were repatriated to Polska, Poland, via Ngurah Rai Airport, Badung, Bali, Saturday (25/3/2023) at 09.55 WITA. They were deported after they were caught camping on Purnama Beach during Nyepi, Wednesday (22/3/2023).
Barbara and Karol’s flight to Poland was escorted by Denpasar Immigration Control and Enforcement officers (Wasdakim). Three Denpasar Immigration Wasdakim officers escorted them to transit at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
“This morning at 09.55 WITA, the two (Barbara and Karol) were flown to Jakarta for deportation via Soekarno Hatta International Airport. They boarded the Etihad Airways airline for the Jakarta-Abu Dhabi-Italy-Poland route with strict escort by officers,” said the Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office Tedy Riyandi in a press statement, Saturday afternoon.
Actually, there was nothing special when the officers escorted Barbara and Karol to Soekarno-Hatta. The officers also did not handcuff the two Caucasians.
However, they really needed to keep an eye on the two Polish foreigners to ensure their return. Because they have also been put on the list of deterrence.
“The two foreigners were subject to immigration administrative action in the form of deportation. Their names were included in the list of deterrence as stated in Article 75 paragraph (2) letters (a) and (f) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration,” explained Tedy.
People and tourists in Bali are indeed prohibited from leaving their homes during Nyepi. However, on Nyepi Day yesterday, Barbara and Karol actually did activities outside the house by camping on the beach. This certainly violates the Nyepi rules in Bali.
