According to Sheriff Ed González, the incident originated in a domestic violence case where the suspect, the girl’s father, went to the woman’s workplace after having taken the minor out of daycare.
There, the man asked the woman to give him her cell phone and to unlock it or else he would hurt the girl. The woman, González said, unsuccessfully tried to take the minor from the arms of the man who is now arrested.
The suspect tried to flee in a vehicle along with the minor, after hitting the woman several times in the face, but he stopped near the intersection of Veterans Memorial and Stuebner Airline, northwest of the metropolitan area where he was detained by the authorities , but not before barricading himself in the vehicle.
There, the officials and emergency teams gave resuscitation sessions to the girl, who had to be taken to an emergency by helicopter. According to the authorities, she was presenting blows to her face and body.
The officers said that the minor was not wearing a seat belt when she was rescued by the uniformed officers, who found her without vital signs.
