The Community Care Unit (UCC) of Alter do Chão held, between the 23rd and 26th of May, several sessions to promote Community Health on Colon and Rectal Cancer, in various parishes of the municipality.
The aim of these sessions was to educate and raise awareness in the community about Colon and Rectal Cancer, raising awareness of how lifestyle can influence the appearance of this pathology. Among other topics addressed, the importance of carrying out the Occult Blood Test in feces was also highlighted, in order to encourage adherence by those present.
Evaluations of the population’s Body Mass Index (BMI) were also carried out in order to assess the need to control body weight.
