SAN DIEGO.- The Ukrainian Oleg Poliansky, from Germany, will arrive at the La Jolla Community Center to present a concert in which he will perform music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Claude Debussy, César Franck and Sergei Rachmaninoff in a benefit concert for the Ensenada Orphanage, located in the neighboring Mexican state of Baja California.
It will be next June 18 when the piano virtuoso will perform in this city starting at 4:00 p.m. at 6811 La Jolla Boulevard.
Poliansky born in kyiv in 1968, studied piano at the Lysenko Music School. He has won the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, Russia, the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Citta di Cantu in Italy. He has also been awarded prizes in Tokyo, Montreal and at The International Duo Competition in Marseille, France.
As a soloist he has performed with The Moscow Soloists, The Moscow Symphony Orchestra, The National Symphony of Ukraine, Budapest Strings, The National Orchestra of Malta and The KBS National Radio Orchestra of Korea.
Regarding the Orphanage, Ensenada is in charge of the Grace Bible Baptist Church directed by Pastor Miguel Pruglo who explained that this church has worked “to save the lives of children for more than 10 years in Ensenada, Mexico. All children are saved from a hard life of violence and hunger. We currently have 20 children in the orphanage and we have to expand the orphanage. However, the state does nothing to help. Everything is done with the help of donations.”
