The Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo has plans for dissemination initiatives that include the presence of a mobile vehicle, provided by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, in a central area of the cities of Évora and Beja and also in Mourão and Viana do Alentejo.
The mobile vehicle, in Beja, will be located between “Pacheco” Pharmacy and Jardim do Bacalhau, on July 27th and 28th, between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm.
These activities aim to increase the literacy of the general population in the area of viral hepatitis, disseminate information on symptoms, ways of transmission and prevention of the same, in addition to carrying out screenings.
The times and location of the Évora and Beja CADs will also be published, for quick tests, information leaflets and awareness material on the importance of condom use, as well as the distribution of preventive material (male and female condoms and lubricant gel).
It was in 2010 that the World Health Organization (WHO) established July 28 as World Viral Hepatitis Day. Since then, there have been global objectives, determined by the aforementioned institutions, and national objectives, depending on the specific characteristics of each country and its level of health care.
At Voz da Planície, this theme was the highlight of the week in the program “Uma Questão de Saúde”, learn more about the date and the activities that are planned.
